Integrated
Equine Performance Bodywork
The Masterson Method provides a
unique approach to equine bodywork in which the
therapist observes and then follows the visual and
palpable responses of the horses to touch. The horse’s
active participation in the process is essential; as the
horse tells us where the tension is stored, how much
pressure to use and how much is being released. In this
interactive communication the therapist then applies
techniques to release deep levels of tension. According
to this method, the key junctions that the most affect
performance are the:
- Poll and Neck
- Junction of the neck,
shoulders and withers
- Sacroiliac and lumbar
junction
When the muscles of the body
become restricted they provide less suspension and
cushion for the lower limbs and feet. Tension patterns
in the muscle and connective tissue of the joints can
create restrictions in joints and major junctions of the
body. This accumulated stress can restrict movement and
affect performance.
The Masterson Method is
effective in releasing the accumulated stress that
affects mobility, comfort, attitude, training and
performance.
